Lost and Found Policy

Lost something, like maybe your favorite branded pen or that super important notebook? Found something cool that someone else might be desperately searching for?

Don’t sweat it for a second!

At LA Founders events, we totally get that things can get misplaced in all the excitement, so we’ve got a solid plan to help get those lost treasures back to their rightful owners. To keep things running smoothly and stress-free for everyone, because who needs extra stress?

Here’s everything you need to know about our super helpful Lost and Found process.

Lost an Item? Here’s What to Do:

If you’ve accidentally misplaced something, whether it’s your phone, a jacket, or even a charging cable, your first move should be to head straight over to the LA Founders registration desk or the designated information point as soon as you can. Our friendly staff will be there, ready to lend an ear! Let them know exactly what you’re missing.

Helpful Tips to Reclaim Your Item:

When reporting your lost item, make sure to provide as much detail as possible. Here’s what to have ready:

  1. Item Name – Be specific! Instead of saying “bag,” say “black leather backpack with silver zippers.”
  2. Description – Include key identifiers like size, color, brand, or any distinguishing features. For example, “blue water bottle with a dent on the lid.”
  3. Time and Location – Share when and where you think the item was lost. This can greatly narrow the search!
  4. Your Contact Info – Ensure you provide your name, phone number, or email address so we can reach you quickly.
  5. Any Photos – If you have a picture of the item—awesome! It makes it so much easier to match with found belongings.

The more details you provide, the better the results will be. Clear and thorough information helps ensure accuracy and leaves less room for misunderstanding, making it easier to achieve the desired outcome. For example, when explaining a process or giving instructions, including specific examples or context can make all the difference.

Found an Item? Be a Hero!

If you happen to stumble upon an item that clearly isn’t yours—like a wallet left on a chair, a pair of glasses on a table, or a forgotten badge—please, please, please bring it to the LA Founders staff right away. Think of it as your chance to be a real-life event hero!

Our amazing team will carefully log the item, noting where and when it was found, and then keep it safe and sound in our secure area until its owner comes looking for it. Seriously, your good deed could absolutely make someone’s entire day (and maybe even save them from a minor panic attack)!

Storage and What Happens Next

Once a lost item is turned in, it’ll be safely tucked away in our designated lost and found spot for the whole LA Founders event.

We make sure they’re kept safe, sound, and out of harm’s way. If, by the time the event wraps up and everyone heads home, an item still hasn’t been claimed, don’t worry! We’ll hold onto it securely for an additional 30 days.

This gives everyone ample time to realize their beloved item is missing and to reach out. After that 30-day period, any unclaimed items may be thoughtfully donated to a local charity, giving them a new life!—or disposed of responsibly, depending on the item.

How to Reclaim Your Stuff

Realize you’re missing something? Don’t stress! To get your lost item back, just head over to our lost and found station.

You’ll need to provide a valid ID and a detailed description that proves the item is yours. For example, if you lost your phone, you might mention the brand, color, case, or even the unique lock screen photo.

Our amazing team will be there to help you through the process and make sure everything gets back to its rightful owner, safe and sound.

We appreciate you helping us keep our events organized and awesome for everyone!
